Thought Leadership at SCNetwork

In support of its mission to provide connection, collaboration, and learning for Canadian strategic leaders in human capital, SCNetwork hosts over 20 professionally-produced learning events per year. From its two centres of thought leadership—in Toronto and Calgary—events are held either in-person or are live and interactive webinars.

These are interactive learning opportunities from top-of-the-line speakers who share leading-edge research on thought-provoking and trend-making topics.

Subject Matter

The choice of topics presented comes from the SCNetwork members and volunteers themselves.

  • Members are polled to identify the topics most important to their success and that of their organizations.
  • The SCNetwork Programming Committee takes it from there, with volunteer producers researching and recruiting speakers, designing the format of the experience, and emceeing the events.

Knowledge Domains

  • Strategic capability and performance of organizations and teams
  • Talent acquisition and retention
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Employee wellbeing: physical, mental, financial
  • Agile workforce
  • Change management
  • Culture and transformation
  • Digital transformation
  • Leadership in action

Formats

In-person Events

In-person events take many different formats, tailored to the needs of the membership and subject matter: lecture demonstration, seminar, networking events, half-day deep dives into a topic, and social events.

Webinars

Webinars are live and professionally produced, focusing on member engagement with the material, the speaker, and each other.

  • Expert-level use of all best practices and interactive features in the online broadcast medium.
  • Meeting format vs. lecture format, Coach-facilitated breakouts, polling, online collaboration tools and apps.
  • Speakers and moderators interact spontaneously with the audience, creating more candid moments of interaction between speaker and audience.
  • Most webinars are recorded and are available on-demand exclusively for SCNetwork Learning Members.
