About This Session

In an ideal world we would all be able to make decisions based on evidence - in particular on evidence that has been gathered and collected within our own organization, taking into account the unique context we are working in. 

In reality, in field experiments are challenging, and we are faced with a number of barriers to running our own experiments (e.g., small sample size, lack of proper control, lack of time). We will review some of the strategies BEworks has used to overcome these barriers and implement in-field experiments and data collection in the context of recruiting and onboarding.

Our Presenter(s)

Shannon O’Malley is an experienced practitioner and has applied behavioural science to solve challenges in a variety of sectors. She has led numerous complex and impactful behaviour change initiatives in financial services, transit, marketing, and beyond. Through BEworks Academy, she oversees the development and execution of workshops, online education courses, and our practitioner level courses.

Shannon is an engaging and passionate teacher who is skilled at translating complex ideas for a broad audience. Over her career, she has developed and taught advanced level courses on psychology and behaviour at Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, and at the University of Waterloo. Prior to BEworks, Shannon earned her PhD in Cognitive Psychology at the University of Waterloo, where she studied the role of attention and visual processing. She has held two post-doctoral positions, one at the University of Montreal, and one at McMaster University, and has published her academic work in several top-tier scientific journals.
