Eric Sydell, Ph.D.

Eric Sydell, Ph.D., is an Industrial/Organizational Psychologist, seasoned entrepreneur and experienced consultant with 20+ years of experience working in the recruiting technology and staffing industries. Currently, he is the Executive Vice President of Innovation at Modern Hire, where he oversees all research and product innovation initiatives, including the data-science focused Labs team, featuring Ph.D.-level I/O psychologists and data scientists.

Eric holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Akron. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President of Innovation at Shaker International, of which he was a founder, and as a Consultant at SHL.

An expert in artificial intelligence, machine and deep learning, psychometrics, and their practical application in hiring, Eric writes and speaks extensively on these topics – both in the media, as well as at a number of academic and industry conferences, including the following:

  • The HR Technology Conference , where he spoke on a panel around how AI can help job candidates experience the position during the interviewing process to get a feel for the position and the company before they accept the job.
